I was on this beach, there are loads of danger signs up, yet people ignore them, thankfully I never saw a drowning but I saw a few get soaked!

There should be a law to protect idiots from themselves, if a rogue wave knocked someone down who was wearing winter clothes , they would be sucked right out into the North Atlantic, it happens all the time in Iceland.

those actions are so selfish. if something happens to you, what about the folks around you...putting others in the situation of even condering tryingf to go out there and help you, or feeling the frustration /pain of not being able to save you if you are dragged out and the risk of drowing is obviously there. Im amazed we still walk on this earth and our mobiles / social media made us even more stupid (people walking out on the egde of a damn high cliff to take selfie and fall to death..... kek

something that a learn from the ocean is that no matter how you know about it and how you can manage in it, the ocean is always treacherous and powerful, whenever it can betray you, so that's why ocean must be respect always and be careful always with it

Same thing in Hawaii. People just go stupid!! They have signs everywhere. The Hotel Staff warns you! You get leaflets under your door... YOU get warnings from the people yet there they go... tourists doing exactly what they were told not to do!

So many people have died there. I think its time to close the beach to tourists. I know there are many warning signs and lights, but people aren't listening. So close it down. Why endanger Search and Rescue any further for idiots?

See those pointy rocks in the background? I've walked up to those in a low tide, waves were somewhat calm so it looked safe. Took in the scenery and next thing I knew a huge wave hit me behind. Got my footing and went back to the safe ground. I wasn't in that much danger but I did have to deal with wet clothes on a very cold winters day.

Not in Iceland, but I once did get caught in the waves like that, pretty scary experience, the worst part is you rarely see it coming.

I've been here a couple of times over the years. In winter of 2014/2015 I was there shooting photos and watched a whole mini-bus load of morons ignore the prominent signs and the drivers protestations and do something roughly similar. None of them won the ultimate prize.

Visited Iceland and this beach last year, apparently there is a disproportionate amount of Chinese tourists that die here compared to other tourists, so much so that locals call it “Chinese take-out.” Horrible, I know, but that’s just what I heard

I was there two years ago and the tides can be deceiving, but luckily I was not caught in the water (although barely).

But sometimes you just can't resist the urge to get your legs knocked out from under you by a huge wave and get sucked into the ice cold Atlantic ocean with no possibility of rescue. Got to say though, if there was a beach to die on, it'd be an awe-inspiring one like this. Damn is it beautiful.

I think all the people saying "theyre just having fun and living life" fail to realise these waves will pull back, drag you out and down, im pretty sure they're called sneaker or sleeper waves but I cant remember correctly. And, the slope isnt gentle like most beaches, its a massive drop. In short ; If you are caught by the wave, you're better off just praying and holding your breath.
